Client  TakeCare!(SM) Testimonials

Why did I buy LTC insurance?
Over ten years ago someone posed this question to me, “Do you consider yourself lucky or smart?”  At various times in my life I have been fortunate enough to be both and I have clearly had times when it seemed I was neither!  I am smart enough to know that I need a good health insurance policy and I have been lucky enough to not have a frequent need for it.  I am required to have automobile insurance and with the exception of a few ill-fated deer, I have been lucky enough to not have a claim against it.

But, unlike health or automobile insurance, I want to be smart enough to prepare for the aging process.  I intend to live as independently as possible in a safe environment.  To accomplish that goal I need to be both smart and lucky.  With the purchase of LTC insurance I will be better prepared to cover the financial needs I may have without imposing on my children.  With the purchase of LTC insurance I will have more options as I age, even if the time comes when I need assisted living or skilled nursing.  With the purchase of LTC insurance I just might choose to go to a retirement community.

"I sincerely feel that my purchasing
LTC insurance was one of the most
caring things I could do for
those who have loved me."

For me the purchase of LTC insurance was one of the smartest and luckiest choices I could ever make.

I purchased LTC Insurance to round out my overall insurance coverage and plan well for my future.
I currently have wonderful health benefits through my employer as well as additional health insurance through a third party company - that takes care of me today.  What about tomorrow?  I purchased Life Insurance to cover expenses once I’m gone.

"What do I do when I’m older
and need care after an illness or injury
has left me unable to care for myself?"

What will Medicare look like when I’m 65 or 70?  Will I be married?  Will I have kids?  So as a single, 36 year old woman I am fully aware of the fact I might be 65 or 70 with no one to take care of me nor adequate medical insurance.

" I don’t want to spend today
worrying about tomorrow.
My Long Term Care Insurance Policy
does the worrying for me."

My father had his first stroke in his 30s.
When I reached my 30s I started to worry about my future.  Learning more about long term care insurance made it clear to me that purchasing a policy would purchase peace of mind for me.

"I felt such relief when my policy was approved."

I am a true believer in Long Term Care Insurance because I lived it's value.
My mother struggled for years with Alzheimer's Disease.  My father cared for her at home, with the help of aides, for as long as possible.  In one day she lost the ability to walk and speak.  This major downturn, coupled with my father's own mounting physical problems, made the need to place her in a skilled nursing facility evident.

Looking for a suitable place for my Mom made me realize how lucky we were that my father had purchased LTC, one of the first policies of it's kind, about 10 years prior.  The policy did not cover assisted living or home health care, only skilled nursing care.  This policy, however, provided enough benefit (my father smartly opted for an inflation rider) for us to afford a nicer facility than we could have without the policy.  I couldn't even imagine placing my Mom in some of the lower cost facilities we looked at.

In addition, the LTC enabled us to private pay (not rely on Medicaid).  This gave us greater control over Mom's care and provide her with services that Medicaid would not have provided.  This made the situation much more acceptable to all of us, most importantly to my mother.  Every day, my father trekked to the nursing facility and sat with my Mom for hours - no easy task since his own health issues were making mobility difficult and sitting even more difficult.  I learned a lot about what real love is during those days.

My father passed away four months later.

"Due to the LTC, we were able to maintain
my mother's care , continue our private pay status, and have the peace of mind that Mom
was receiving excellent care."

My Mom did not pass away for nearly another four years.  Needless to say, my husband and I (both in our 50's) already own LTC.  I recommend it to everyone I know.  I have seen first-hand how it can be some of the best money you will ever spend.
Sincerely,
Diane M.
