Bill is an independent LTC specialist agent with Comfort Long Term Care based in the Raleigh / Durham / Chapel Hill Triangle area of North Carolina.

2025 marks Bill's 34th year in the insurance business!  Unmatched experience and expertise along with independent long-term care planning advice and LTC insurance brokerage options.

​As a former radio and TV journalist, Bill has a unique ability to take the complicated world of long-term care and communicate planning and insurance implementation options clearly and directly.  Bill's mission as a LTC specialist is to help individuals and families properly protect themselves from both the personal and financial and costs of a long-term care disability.  He has trademarked the phrase, The LTCpro®.

Bill has been in the insurance industry since 1991.  He has sold LTC insurance for more than 30 years and has focused exclusively on LTC planning and LTC insurance since 2000.  Only a handful of LTC specialists in the country have as much experience.

As a LTC specialist in the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, NC Triangle metro area, Bill also serves clients across North Carolina and the rest of the country.

As a Continuing Education instructor certified in all 50 states, he also works with agents and financial advisors nationally to develop their competencies and confidence to effectively integrate long-term care planning solutions into any insurance, benefits, financial planning or advisory practice.  

One of only a few LTC specialists to hold both the , Bill has served as a national faculty member for both the Certified Senior Advisor (CSA)® and Certified in Long-Term Care - CLTC®  designation training programs and is the Director of Training & Development for CLTC. His agency, Comfort Long Term Care, is a member of the National LTC Network and the National Alliance of Insurance Agencies.

Beyond the insurance industry, Bill consults nationally with the private duty home care industry, educating care providers on how to work more effectively with clients who have LTC insurance to help them through the often-confusing LTC insurance claim process.  He authored the book Long-Term Care Insurance Resource Guide, for Home Instead Senior Care, and he was a contributor to and technical editor for the book Stages of Senior Care by Home Instead, Inc., founders Lori & Paul Hogan.

Bill has served as an expert legal witness in several LTC insurance claims lawsuits.

BIll has been quoted in Barron's, The Wall Street Journal, The Journal of Financial Planning, US News & World Report, SmartMoney magazine, McKnight's Home Care, Kaiser Health News, Kiplingner's Retirement Report, and The St. Louis Post-Dispatch.  He has been interviewed on Fox Business News and has authored numerous articles for financial and insurance industry publications.

Bill lives in Durham, NC, with his long-time sweetheart.  He has four adult children and two grandchildren who prove that being a grandparent is everything everyone says it is.  He loves to cook, grill out, golf, travel, is an amateur radio operator (WøVZ), and models European model trains to help bring the joys of wanderlust home!
